2002 Mustang

About the car.

This car was purchased by my dad in 2001 for my sister Dana to drive to high school. It was special ordered with all options from Advantage Ford in Duarte, CA. After racking up nearly 150,000 miles, my sister decided to upgrade to a new mustang. Not wanting to see her original mustang go away, Dana decided to give the mustang to us to build into a race car. This car came at a perfect time. My dad and I were more into cars and racing than we ever had been before. I knew I wanted to build something new, fast and with the latest technology.

First, we stripped the car down to a bare body and prepared the car for a fresh coat of paint. All holes in the engine were filled and smoothed. At this time we also installed the roll cage and fabricated countless parts. While the car was at the paint shop, we began to work on the engine. To be unique, we knew we wanted to use a pushrod 351W in place of the original modular 4.6. High compression and a big solid roller cam was a must for this engine.

After being painted, the final assembly. The timing of this crucial stage also came at the perfect time. Covid had just hit and my dad and I were at home working together on the car everyday of the week. This car had brought my dad and I really close and created so many great memories for me. The amount of money spent on this car will never equal the amount of knowledge I gained. My dad made sure I was involved in every step, even if it took a little longer. Now that the car is finished, all of our fine details have paid off. This car is not only a consistent bracket car, but fast nitrous heads up car.
